Why People Are Freaking Out On Bella Hadid, Bella Thorne vs Whoopi, & Alaska’s Horrifying “Catfish”

– Sup you beautiful bastards. Hope you’ve had a fantastic
Wednesday, welcome back to the Philip DeFranco show
and let’s just jump into it. The first thing I want to talk
about today is this outrage story, that when I first heard about it, I thought it was a troll. So as you may or may not have seen, Bella Hadid is racist was
trending on Twitter this week. Bella Hadid, of course, a very
popular and successful model and as far as why people
were saying she was racist, it was because she posted this
photo to her Instagram story and if you are confused
at this point, so was I. Personally I look at that photo and I go oh she got new shoes? She’s about to board another plane because she’s an
international super model? But no apparently a huge chunk of people were offended by this photo
that had people saying, “What Bella Hadid did
is just unacceptable.” “Bella Hadid spreads hate.” was that if you look really
closely, the heel of her shoe in the photo, it’s pointed
towards plane’s in the distance that are Saudi Arabian
and Emirates aircraft. Which in certain cultures, if you display the sole of
your shoe towards someone, it’s like the ultimate insult
and it’s like that thing or that person, it’s beneath dirt. And since this not only
did she face backlash, not only did people trend
Bella Hadid is racist but people have starting adding
brands that she works with demanding that they remove her. Also following all of this
Bella Hadid has apologized in English and Arabic. In one tweet writing “This
was an honest mistake on an early morning. Never ever would I intentionally try to offend anyone like that. I am so sorry.” A much longer post once
again throwing out apologies. As well as saying “I promise
I never noticed the planes in the background and that is the truth.” Adding “Not only do I have so much respect from the bottom of my heart, I’ve always tried to stand
up for what I feel is right especially regarding
the great Middle East.” And she says “I hope you can understand the misunderstanding.” But still, there are a good
number of people not having it. It’s like it’s really to end this story I have two main reactions. One, I think the outrage
here, against Bella Hadid here because of this photo
is incredibly fucking stupid. It is a stretch to say that
she is trying to convey the message that people are
saying she is conveying. And two, let’s use this
situation as a reminder that if we’re going to
talk about Saudi Arabia, that if we’re gonna be
outraged regarding something involving Saudi Arabia, there are much more
important things to mention. Like the fact that Mohammad Bin Salman, the crown prince of Saudi
Arabia, AKA Mohammed Bonesaw, is, according to reports, intelligence, the intelligence community
responsible for the death and murder of Jamal Khashoggi. This according to, not only
what we have seen in the past, but now also today,
according to a UN expert as part of an independent
investigation has said, “There is sufficient credible
evidence Saudi Arabia’s crown prince bears responsibility for the murder of
journalist Jamal Khashoggi.” With UN investigator Agnes
Callamard saying that “Saudi Arabia was responsible
under international law for the, quote, deliberate,
premeditated execution of Khashoggi and current sanctions on some senior officials
do not go far enough.” So hey if we’re gonna spend time getting angry about some Saudi
Arabia news, maybe that. Or yeah, no, focus on the
supermodel who seems to have her heel pointed towards pixelated
planes in the distance. Yeah, that makes sense,
that should be the priority. Then let’s talk about an
update around the Bella Thorne situation we covered earlier this week. If you didn’t watch it, the over simplification of that story. Bella Thorne appeared to be hacked, that hacker then allegedly had
nude photos of Bella Thorne. So Bella Thorne said to
take back her power she just posted those photos herself. Initially saying that “Hackers
should watch their back that the FBI was coming.” But then later in another interview saying that “The person sounded
like they were a juvenile.” and so she doesn’t want
to ruin their life. And of course following this news there were a lot of reactions. There were people praising Bella, some blaming Bella,
some saying they thought that this whole thing was
fake because she has a book on pre-order set to release. People making accusations
that this is a PR stunt. But one of the biggest,
most noted, most focused on, reactions to this story
came from Whoopi Goldberg who was speaking on The View. – Listen, if your famous, I
don’t care how old you are, you don’t take nude pictures of yourself because–
– but she only wanted to share with one person. – But she, listen, when
they’re hacking you, there hacking all of your stuff. So whether it’s one picture
or a million pictures once you take that picture– – [Woman] Yeah. – It goes in the Cloud and it’s available to any hacker who wants it, and if you don’t know that in 2019, that this is an issue, you,
I’m sorry, your age does not, you don’t get to do that. – And following that
reaction, that became a story. Whoopi started trending. Looking online the reactions
were once again very split. One sided people like Caity
Babs tweeting Bella Thorne do not feel beaten down. What Whoopi said is not
even worth your time. This isn’t the 70’s, many of us are in long
distance relationships and nudes are a fucking thing. No shame here. You’re strong. But on the other side, you
have people like Dyvon Franklin who tweeted Whoopi is trending
because she spoke the truth? If any nudes of mine are
leaked, it’s my fault, period. I’ve looked 18 different ways for how she’s wrong and I don’t see it. Hashtag not sorry. And following this the story continued because Bella Thorne
responded to Whoopi Goldberg, initially writing shame on you,
then writing a long reaction in the notes app saying
“Whoopi’s reaction is sick and honestly disgusting.” Asking “so what, a girl can’t send
her boyfriend that she misses photos of her that are sexy,
things that he’s already seen?” Adding, “I’m offended for anyone out there who’s ever taken a sexy photo. I am offended for Jennifer Lawrence
who feels publicly raped. I am offended for every person
who has committed suicide for someone leaking their nudes. Your view on this matter is honestly awful and I hope you change your mindset as you are on a show
talking to young girls.” Then posting video’s where you can see she’s
visibly distraught. – You know I don’t really
want to go on the view anymore because I don’t really
want to be beaten down by a bunch of older women
for my body and my sexuality. I don’t really feel like that, and so I’m gonna cancel my interview because I don’t really want you guys
talking about your views to young girls because I
would not want my daughter to learn that and I would
never say that to her. Shame on you Whoopi, shame on you. And shame on you for
putting that public opinion just out there like that
for every young girl to think that their disgusting for even taking a photo like that. Saying that, if you take a sexy photo then it basically deserves to get leaked, like don’t be surprised at all and don’t feel sorry for yourself. So if I go out to a party drinking, and I wanna dance on the dance floor do I deserved to be raped too? Because to me I see those two things, really fucking similar. Okay? – You then saw other
influencers jumping in like the likes of Tana Mojo responding, yo fuck Whoopi Goldberg. Fuck slut shaming. Fuck blaming girls for bad things that happen to them and inciting fear. And so at this point I want to
pass the question off to you. What are your thought
around Whoopi Goldberg’s thinking and response? And do you think that
Whoopi was being disgusting? That it was slut shaming? That it was essentially
saying that someone was just kind of asking for it? You should have known better. Or no, on the other side,
do you agree with her? You think she made sense? Do you think that Bella
should have known better? I will say personally,
while I have questions regarding the Bella Thorne situation, the words coming from Whoopi. It did feel somewhat like slut shaming. Right, like if someone broke
into Whoopi Goldberg’s house and they stole her nice
things, I wouldn’t be like, well you shouldn’t have bought nice things in the first place Whoopi. People know you’re rich Whoopi. Sure I know you have an
alarm system and locks. But you should know better. But at the same time, I will acknowledge, cause I don’t really
have a dog in this fight, you could also compare what
Whoopi Goldberg is saying here to the advice of,
don’t wear your really nice expensive stuff when walking through an incredibly bad neighborhood. Right, maybe your not
necessarily blaming the victim but your trying to give
them some real world advice because bad people do exist. Although I guess in this
scenario, this comparison, we’re saying the entirety of
the internet is a bad place. Which I won’t completely argue against. It does at times feel like a
just scary toxic dumpster fire. Yeah, I think for me what the story is my focus ends up being on the people that committed the crimes rather than the culpability of the victim. But hey, that’s also kind
of the point of this show. That’s the story, a little
bit of my personal take away, the different sides of this and I now would love to hear from you. What are your thoughts on this? Where do you land on this? Why? But from that I wanna share some stuff. I love today and today in Awesome, brought to you by Catalina Crunch. As some of you know
I’ve been slowly taking better and better care of myself. This including starting
a workout schedule. I’m keeping up with. That I can grow with. And along with that it’s
also introducing new foods that I actually want to keep up with, and breakfast is a
particular thing for me. And that’s where Catalina Crunch come in. It’s low carbs, zero sugar,
Keto and Paleo friendly. Vegan, non-GMO. Personally I love the
taste and it’s obviously a much better substitute
for the normal everyday sugary cereals that are out there. And best, and I think hilariously of all, for a limited time only
you can get my dumb face on a bag of cinnamon toast cereal. Yes, really, you get to
stare at my dumb face while you enjoy your morning breakfast. Or, maybe do what my kids does and he has it like as a desert, or sometimes we mix it in a yogurt. Yeah, all you gotta do
if you wanna try it out is go to “CatalinaCrunch.com/DeFranco” or just go to the website as normal and just make sure you
enter in code DeFranco at the checkout for 10% off a bag or two. And then even more awesome, 5%
of all proceeds will be going to “FeedingAmerica.org” that way you get to eat some good,
and support some good. Yeah “CatalinaCrunch.com/DeFranco.” The first bit of Awesome,
is that we got the news that Avengers End Game will
be getting a re-release with new footage. Which is great because
if you like that movie didn’t already make enough money. Now as an underappreciated gem. According to Marvel Studios president, “If you stay and watch the
movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted
scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. So I guess the main point is, End Game is about to pass Avatar as the highest grossing movie ever. And we got the trailer, and announcement that Harry Potter Wizard’s Unite will be launching this Friday. It’s an AR game and experience. Kind of along the lines of Pokemon GO. So yeah, it’ll be interesting to see how many people adopt it. How many people go out. You know it just kind of
makes me think of when, do you remember when
Pokemon GO first launched? That’s kind of one of the
weirdest, coolest times. We’re just out, people
that would have never otherwise interacted
were meeting each other, having conversations, complaining about the Pokemon GO servers
crashing constantly. You know, good times. And Glamor gave us how a
celebrity personal assistant spends her 36k income. We had the Hobbs and Shaw cast
revealing their watch list. We got the Honest Trailers for the MCU. And then our filled out growed out GG partner game of the day today is Two Point Hospital. It’s a very, very low
reviewed hospital building and management Sim. I would warn you, it is addictive and you will very likely lose some hours. But, best of all, if you
snag this using my link before 9:00 a.m. tomorrow
and or while supplies last, instead of it costing you $35.00 it will just cost you $20.50. For 41% off if you grab it fast enough. And if you want to see the full versions of everything I just shared. The secret link of the day,
really anything at all. Links as always are under
the description down below. The last thing we’re
gonna talk about today. You know how there are those stories or those videos that pop
up and your like, awe man faith in humanity restored? Well, this is the opposite of that. So this story, this news,
it takes place in Alaska. According to court documents,
18 year old Denoli Brehmer invited her best friend Cynthia CC Hoffman on a hike to Thunderbird
Falls on June 2nd. Brehmer’s friend, 16
year old Kayden McIntosh joins them along the way. And on that hike McIntosh
allegedly helped Brehmer bind Hoffman’s feet, hands,
and mouth with duct tape. And then shot her in the back of the head when they reached their destination. Then after murdering
Hoffman, the teens allegedly dumped the body into a near by river. Then according to authorities,
Brehmer texted Hoffman’s family to say that they
were dropping their daughter off at the park. But then she and McIntosh allegedly burned Hoffman’s belongings at another location. And according to Cynthia’s father, his daughter was vulnerable because she had a developmental disability that made her operate at
a seventh grade level. Saying “Her disability just
made her want to have friends. That’s all she wanted, was
just to be her friend.” and of course with this
story there is the massive question of why? Why would they do this? And according to
authorities it’s connected to a 21 year old Indiana
man by the name of Darin Schilmiller who convinced the teens to carry out the attack. Reportedly Brehmer and
Schilmiller met online and they developed a relationship. And he reportedly told Brehmer
that his name was Tyler. He provided fake photos and he said that he was a
millionaire who lived in Kansas. And at a point, in this
relationship, he then allegedly offered her $9,000,000 or more to rape and murder someone in Alaska and send him photos and
videos of the killing. All right, so this is a
catfishing story, but on crack. So following this offer,
Brehmer then allegedly recruited other friends to
help her carry out the attack. Which regarding that,
authorities say that along with McIntosh, Brehmer and Schilmiller, three other suspects have been charged. And of those other three
involved, two are juvenile’s and one has been identified
as 19 year old Caleb Leyland. Police say that these other
teens agreed to participate because they believed that they would each receive
a cut of the payment. Though at this time police
have not clearly explained what role each had. Although we did learn
that Leyland told police that he had been promised
$500,000 for his role. Also according to authorities,
Brehmer only learned that Tyler wasn’t who he said he was until after her arrest. In fact when she was first
questioned by police on June 6th Brehmer allegedly claimed that she had gone to Thunderbird Falls, with Hoffman and McIntosh
to just take pictures of each other wrapped in duct tape. Claiming that she had no idea that McIntosh planned to shoot Hoffman. But according to prosecutors, “Once Brehmer realized
she had been catfished by Schilmiller, she
ultimately admitted to being solicited by Schilmiller to
commit the murder and that the murder was planned.” Also after searching Brehmer’s cell phone they found a lot. Investigators uncovered
sexually explicit photos and text messages between
her and the catfish. They also found directions
from Schilmiller on how Brehmer should
sexual assault a child for his viewing pleasure. Regarding that Brehmer said
that he had directed her to assault two minors. One who was eight or nine years old and the other one who was 15. Regarding this FBI agents said
that they were unable to find videos of the younger child. But they did that
Brehmer had actually sent Schilmiller child
pornography that featured the 15 year old victim. Also regarding Schilmiller,
upon his arrest, he allegedly admitted
that he had picked Hoffman as Brehmer’s victim and
said that they discussed murdering someone else
after killing Hoffman, but later abandoned that plan. Also telling officials that
they had planned this murder for three weeks and said that
Brehmer was in full communication with him during the killing,
including sending him snap chat photos and videos. And according to
prosecutors, Schilmiller also allegedly admitted that he
had plans to blackmail Brehmer into raping people after the murder. And so he was just gonna keep this going. But with all that said,
ultimately where we are right now you have six defendants
being charged with murder and conspiracy charges. Schilmiller and Brehmer
have also been indicted on first degree solicitation
to commit murder charges. Additionally Brehmer and
McIntosh were hit with charges for tampering with physical evidence. And finally Schimiller and
Brehmer are also facing child pornography charges
and Schilmiller is awaiting extradition to Alaska. Now as far as what Brehmer
has to say for herself in a June 8th court
appearance she said quote “I know what I did was wrong
and I know I could have probably done something
different if I was able to, and I don’t want my daughter
knowing that her mom grew up to be a killer because
I don’t see myself as one.” Now of course the counter to that is, well you are. Not only are you a killer, but you killed a vulnerable young woman
who just wanted a friend. And imma go out on a limb here and say, that baby is a million times
better off without you. In my opinion the only
thing you are deserving of is to be locked in a hole
and used as an example of what trash is. That’s it, we only get this one life and you took that away from someone else so I want nothing more than
to see yours waste away. But on that happy note that’s
where we’re going to end today’s show. And of course if you like this video, I’d love you to take a second
to hit that like button. If your new here definitely
hit that subscribe button. Ring that bell to turn on notifications. Which on that note if you missed yesterday’s Philip DeFranco
show, you wanna catch up you can click or tap
right there to watch that. But with that said of course as always my name is Philip DeFranco,
you’ve just been filled in I love yo faces and I’ll see you tomorrow.

  1. Here are those timecodes:

Bella Hadid Controversy (0:06), Bella Thorne Vs Whoopi Goldberg (2:45), TIA (7:14), Alaska Teens Charged (9:40)

  2. I'm scrolling through and seeing thousands of comments about someone's phone being hacked and some celebrity people crying and shouting at each other and everyone seems to think that's more important then a bunch of fucktard kids that have killed someone murder a person with absolutely no remorse. The fuck is wrong with all you people did you think someone's phone being hacked is more important, fuck all of you people!

  3. Whoopi is pretty much saying shit happens and you have to protect your image. The more famous you become the bigger the target becomes. Be cautious if what you do.

  4. Brehmer and the catfisher both deserve to meet each other. If any justice should be served it should be in that way.

  5. I walk through Compton at 3am…and get mugged.
    1. I am the victim. 2. muggers shouldnt mug. 3. I have the right to not get mugged.

  6. If I can imagine why a someone who has no connection to the situation intervenes in something that does not concern him and Leaving his country's problems, just relax honey and talk about your country this is absolutely non of your business and you look so funny 😂 😂😂😂

  7. Talk about the problems of Homelessness and Immigration because it concerns you 😉 more than the search for problems of distant states 🤮🤮

  8. Shame on Whoopi for speaking her views on THE VIEW?? Like. I swear sometimes our generation is so stupid.

  9. I agree with Whoopi. When you take a photo like that and send it or save it, you need to have an understanding that there could be negative consequences.

  10. The whole drinking vs Nudes analogy is garbage. Not at all the same, the odds of being raped may increase while being under the influence, but unlike taking a nude photo they don’t go from 0-100. It’s just simple math. If no nudes exist, the odds of your nudes being leaked is 0 but once you do take a nude picture the odds increase by %1000. Also Whoopi was by no means shaming your body or that you deserved to have the leaked. she was just saying that you, by nature of taking a nude photo play a part in causing its leakage

  11. dude Idk about all that bella shit. Though Bella sounds like an emotional wreck that's going to try and destroy anyone that doesn't coddle her like a small child. I thinks its clear that what happened to her pictures and privacy is really awful but i just think the whole thing is really weird and immature. Like Whoopi never said flat out "you should be ashamed of your self" etc…Like, hardly anyone is going to say what they really think because they dont want to be harassed and have words put in their mouth. Like Whoopi sounded like a mom telling her daughter to think about the times we are living in and Bella sounded like a young girl mad at her mother…The whole thing is just weird…There are people dying and children living in poverty.

  12. Whoopi was right, she's a bit nuts saying she'd not warm her daughters to protect themselves. If you don't want something leaked, don't take the pictures. Both the person who took the photos and the person who leaks the pictures are in the wrong. If you take that picture, take it knowing someone else may see it that you do not want to.

  13. This "Tale of Two Bellas" was somewhat interesting. Both took photos of themselves, both posted them online and both are shocked when people put their two cents in that don't agree with their context. "Bella One" showed some remorse and took ownership, as what the photo "implied" is a real offence in many countries overseas . "Bella Two" got mad but, not at the hacker whose life she didn't want to ruin, the one who got into her cloud account and allegedly blackmailed her photos. Instead Bella Two got mad at the "opinion" of another female celebrity who has been in the "hot seat" years before, obviously stating the pitfalls of celebrities repeatedly posting personal images in virtual media. "Bella Two" this will not stop with you! Remember that you had the chance to nip this in the proverbial bud when they do it again to someone else without your power or influence.
Most importantly, It is deeply upsetting when a young life that is so trusting is cut short! There is no amount of punishment that can be done to these people who do crimes like this. Seems there is no remorse as the main concern is not getting paid. I am just surprised the perpetrator's names and images were shown here as I thought it was against your platform's stance.

  14. So if i was bella thornes friend this is what i would have to say : of course you deserve to be upset. I agree that she was victim shaming. Noone should be ashamed of their body, noone should be hacked and leaked. Nobody should be told theyre responsible for the bad thing SOMEONE ELSE did. Dont feel ashamed of what she said, because thats her burden to bear. And maybe go on their show, and be an example for all of her female fans and tell her politely and to her face why shes dead wrong

  15. Bella Throne hella overreacting and blowing things out of proportion. She had my support at first but misconstruing everything Whoopi said is just disgusting and an attention cry. Shame on you Bella.

  16. This is the kind of ridiculous, weak White (so called protected class) Woman rage that have jammed Black People up for centuries.
Someone saw her beautiful naked body (according to Thorne) and thats going to cause distraught and a possibility of suicide in her??? 66% of the world population is experiencing real suffering, and this is what White People find outrageous-a White Naked Ass?
Get the F**k out of here!

  17. I think Thorne and Whoopi are both right. Thorne is a very young girl with fans who look up to her, but her fans can easily be mislead. Whoopi is correct many of these stars don’t want those photos out there. Now there is way to avoid that, you don’t take them or you delete them. But a person has the right to do what they want with that, but the end results are the photo takers responsibility.

  18. We live in a world where there are consequences to your actions. All Whoopi is saying is that you can’t live in a world where you ignore what’s going on around you and don’t adjust your actions accordingly. And to the home break in analogy…. if I knew my neighbors were being robbed of their TVs sitting near windows then yes, I would change what I had near the window or get blinds. It’s not victim blaming, it’s called being prudent.

  19. This is cancel culture at its best. The photo was completely innocent, some people need to sit down & shut up. 😑

  20. I think Whoopi's advice is pretty antiquated. She said don't TAKE nude photos in the first place, which is different than "be careful, stuff will get leaked". Celebrity's shouldn't be faulted just because they want to feel sexy and take their own private photos of their bodies. She's acting like it's the celebrity's fault that there are bad players in the world who want to grab at any little opportunity for extortion or exposure that they can get. Unfortunately, EVERYTHING is pretty much backed up to the cloud now-a-days, and celebrities who are constantly attacked shouldn't have to be held to a higher moral standard than regular people who also take sexy photos just because they are famous. This is victim blaming and slut shaming, and sounds so outdated and just "old lady bitter" coming from someone like whoopi

  21. Went to the comments in hopes of seeing other people enraged about the last story. Quite disheartened to see otherwise

  22. It's deppressing to hear Woopi Goldberg say sutch things in sutch a way intentional or not, but also not surprising. Over the years she has grown intellectually lazy and has surrounded herself with a bunch of "yes-women", comfy in her own personal echo chamber. Sad state of affairs indeed, I used to look up to her.

  23. Woopie is right, you r a target if famous, and i thinkbshe should've charge the hacker, becsuse he thought he could do it. And now he will do it again. She was probably not the first he hacked either. If she had got raped and he was a yong person , i m sure she would not have said, i dlnt want to charfe hom because i dont want to ruin his life

  24. So fed up with those ppl out there who are devastated and outraged by EVERY F-ING THING should not be enabled by us who don't see bigotry / racism etc..and every time we start by bowing down to their unnecessary overly personalized drama – persistently enabling these overly dramatic ppl ever again.
Get a life FFS! Stop making everything about you and your biases!!!!

  25. the great Middle East???!!! hahahaha speak to emerites staff, I promise you they will beg to differ, speak to woman who live in Saudi, if they are allowed to talk to you, they will beg to differ.

  26. Whoopi has a right to her opinion. I strongly disagree with Whoopi's opinion on this and side with Bella Thorne's stance.

However, in today's technologically fueled world, we need to protect ourselves. Take just about whatever pictures you want within the confines of the law of course. Use a strong password, two-factor authentication, don't reuse passwords on different apps/websites/accounts. Protect yourself because you can't expect that these platforms are going to do it for you.

  27. i think woopie portrayed her point to aggressively but i also think she has a point that sending nudes or taking them can turn out badly. On the other hand in a perfect world people would think the human body is just that and nude photos wouldn't have a negative connotation, but sadly they do and you need to have more caution.

  28. Are you actually kidding me… like come on, its just someone who just took a picture with her shoes. Are people literally getting mad over that? Is that really worth your time?

  29. I completely agree with Whoopi, which is something I can't believe I'm saying. It's not about "your body" or "your sexuality" or women at all. Guys also have nudes, very commonly, and I think that's a terrible idea as well. For goodness sake, at least keep them on a machine which isn't connected to the internet — don't just have them sitting on a public, verified account. If you want to send them to an SO, at least make a separate account no hacker will ever know about. Even then, ex-boyfriends/girlfriends can still leak it. And in court, you better hope they aren't on your phone. If I learned one thing in business law, it's that.

Stop making this a "slut-shaming" issue — it's not about your body or your sexuality, it's about your mind and whether or not you use it.

  30. Goldberg's tone is pretty bad, but what she said is good advice. While I do have compassion for what Bella Thorne is feeling after what happened to her, I'm concerned at the content of Thorne's response. Thorne mentioned "girls" watch The View and I have to wonder if Thorne knows that underage girls who take and send nudes of themselves can get slapped with a sex offender label for "creating child p—". It's wrong that the system punishes sexting that way, but famous people like Thorne help popularize the idea of sexting as normal to teens. It scares me that it seems Thorne wouldn't discourage her own daughter from sending nudes. If you aren't honest with young girls about the risks of sexting, that's not responsible parenting.

Revenge porn is horrible, but we don't advise women and girls to guard themselves against it because they're inherently bad for taking the nudes, but because there's bad people willing to prey on them because society sucks. Goldberg absolutely should have worded her remarks to be less harsh and compassionless, but not taking nudes really is the only way to fully protect yourself against those nudes getting leaked.

We should, as adults aware of the dangers in the world, warn our kids away from doing things that have a known risk. Sending nudes is dangerous and children should be warned never to. If they get hurt because they sent nudes, it's not their fault for not knowing better, its our fault for not teaching them better and instead glamorizing behavior that leads to known danger.

  31. This world is a scary place, it's terrible and makes me think when I have kids I should just keep them in a tiny bubble and never let them experience the bad things that could happen. But obviously that's not something you can do, you can't always stop bad things that happen to people..you have to trust that people will be good to you but as time goes on it seems like people just get worse. And it only takes one bad person to ruin your life, or even take your life. My heart goes out to the family of that poor girl. How could they have known what would happen to their daughter who just wanted to make friends. That's what scares me the most..they couldn't have known at all..that's what scares me.

  32. I’m Palestinian like Bella Hadid and what the dumb Saudis and Emirates did and said is the stupidest thing ever .. love you Philip DeFranco ❤️

  33. If I take a nude picture of myself and put it out on the internet – or even the cloud – I will have to live with the consequences if it gets leaked.

  34. How on earth do you compare nude photos to stuff in your house. No one is going to spread your china cabinet on huge websites. Your silverware isn't going to be used to publicly shame you. For fuck sake, Phil, this comparison is just stupid. What Whoopi said is that if you don't want your nude photos out there, don't take them, or be more careful with them. Personal responsibility. It is your responsibility to safeguard your important and potentially embarrassing shit.

  35. “If someone breaks into your home and steals your tv, it’s your fault for having a tv” even if your door is open, someone still stole something. Maybe you should have made a different decision, but a thief is a thief, a rapist is a rapist, and a hacker is a hacker.

Lmao I started writing this before Phil have basically the same example.

  36. Eh wise up it is 2019 and unfortunately there are people who choose to spend their time invading the privacy of others and publishing what they steal instead of helping the world they would rather be part of tearing it down, this older woman spoke out frustrated and mad that another female a young female at that was publicly humiliated and the young lady could have prevented it by not sending private photos over a non private ether, This hacking business has been harming people for years now and part of the frustration is that it is well known yet people continue to send private photos over this same Non private ether, understand Whoopi is coming from a place of Care not harm

  37. I understand Whoopi’s point that as a celebrity you should caution yourself when taking nude photos because there’s a high possibility you would be hacked. Just the way she said it came off as she was putting all the blame on Bella Thorne.

  38. I feel like Whoopi had good intentions but didn't word it right. It did feel like she was shaming those who take nudes.
But also yeah, you have to be cautious cause they can be leaked, celebrity or not.

  39. I think the way bella took whoopis comments was along the line of "you should know better" which you know, isn't the best thing to say to someone who's privacy was invaded. Also I watched the whole segment of the view on this and the whole thing had a very belittling tone toward Bella about the situation so I get it. But also nudes getting hacked and leaked is a thing in this day and age so everyone be careful 🤷‍♀️

  40. I'm in a long distance relationship and if my nudes got leaked I would be horrified. I truly am trying to understand whoopie's point of view. This is a old point of view. There are plenty of people in long distance relationships and it literally HURTS to be away from someone you love so much. So forgive me if from time to time I send sexy photos to my bf.

  41. With my children I would say, don't be ashamed of what you may want to post BUT be aware that on the internet, nothing really goes away and anything is accessible given the right perpetrators looking to access it. So my warning to my own kids would be, "Don't post anything you are not willing to OWN. Don't let any boyfriend or girlfriend take a pic of you that you are not willing to OWN. Don't say anything on Facebook or otherwise that you are not willing to OWN." I have an old boyfriend who has sexy suggestive Polaroids of me (yes, I'm old AF) that if he scanned and leaked – sure, they'd be a bit embarrassing but they are nothing that I would not be comfortable owning. And to me, that is just being smart. I don't agree with Whoopie in that it is ALL the victim's fault but I would arm my own kids with the knowledge and wisdom to be smart. There are people out there who do not have your best interests at heart, there are jilted lovers, there are hackers, there are just asshole "friends"…best to keep one step ahead of them by knowing what you would and wouldn't feel okay with them putting out in the public space.

  42. I’m sorry, but Bella Thorne sounds kinda like a dumbass. Yeah, maybe Whoopi was throwing a little undeserved shame her way, but what she said wasn’t wrong. If you send someone nudes, you are risking them getting leaked. Yes, it sucks. Yes, it should still be considered a crime. No, it is not the same as getting raped because you were “out dancing”. Take some responsibility, and weigh the consequences of any action you do, even if it’s not something wrong. It’s not wrong to send nudes, but you’re still taking a risk. It’s more akin to having unprotected sex. It’s unfair if your partner doesn’t warn you, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a risk to begin with.

  43. Whoopis point sounds a lot like the "Well if a bank leaves their doors unlocked, then whos at fault when a robber comes and steals all the money?" (important thing to note, a womans body is NOT a bank- Its a fucking human being) but at the end of the day….. its the fucking hackers fault, its the fucking thieves fault. you are NOT SUPPOSED TO HACK PEOPLES SHIT AND STEAL AND LEAK THEIR NUDES. its deplorable and illegal and disgusting. Bella has every right to take pictures of her body and send them to a consenting adult.

  44. Bella shouldn’t have responded. While I get what she was trying to say in the response video, she really fucking twisted Whoopi’s words. You can’t compare being hacked and having your nudes leaked to being intoxicated and raped, both are horrible and I’d be terrified if they’d ever happen to me, both would emotionally scar you etc. but our cancel culture and the media twisting shit don’t take kindly to anything having to do with rape, I wouldn’t be surprised if they started a Bella Thorne is over party. She was clearly frustrated in the video, actually the first video wasn’t that bad, I wouldn’t be making this comment if she had just posted the first but the rape thing man..

  45. Regarding the Bella/Whoopi situation, I agree with Whoopi in that in 2019 you should know that being hacked and having personal pictures exposed is absolutely a possibility, and as a celebrity you should be extra careful. If you make that choice, be aware that there could be consequences. I don't mean Bella should be ashamed she took the photos. Personal info or pics being leaked is wrong and we should never be okay with that. No one deserves that. But if it exists, it can be used against you. Be righteously upset that it happened, but don't be surprised.

  46. I thought Whoopi was talking slow and clear enough for Bella to understand all devices could be hacked or lost! Come on people do not be suprised

  47. You do not take nude pictures of yourself for the same reason you lock your doors. Their are bad people on earth, protect yourself. It's not about buying nice things, but protecting the nice things you have. It's not about body shaming, it's about protecting your image.

  48. The Bella is so ridiculous is like "oh in a picture on 2015 she was standing on top of a bucket, that types of buckets are made on Latin America so that must mean she hates Latin people and she stumps on them" wtf?

  49. I do agree that as someone famous if you take nudes it's only a matter of time before they're leaked. It's sad that someones privacy can so easily be invaded like that but on the other hand the best solution if you want something to be hidden is for it to not exist in the first place. I don't know of any other fool proof solution.

  50. If the rate of getting some horrible disease by doing something you enjoy was publicized and the same as these nude-leaks that have been publicized, how do you convey the risk of being famous & beautiful and taking nudes?

  51. Bella literally posted a picture on her snapchat of her getting a bikini wax with only a squiggly line covering her vagina. With that being said, I dont see her being the type of person to be that conservative when it comes to nudes. What happened was fucked up, dont get me wrong. If you're sending a nude it should be to that person and that person only. Should dosen't necessarily mean it will though. That's the risk nowadays of sending nudes. It goes for both sexes too. This case in general is very sketchy to me though. Why would the FBI be involved in a hacking case that only involves adult nudes? Even if they did, the kid has claimed to have other celebrity nudes too. If he does, wont those celebrities also be able to prosecute him? How can you determine someone's age by phone? So many questions like this leave me incredibly skeptical of the case. It's a good and relevant topic to discuss about though.

  52. My thinking is that leaked celebrity nudes are a real problem so if you do it, it’s a risk your taking. You may not think something like that could happen to you but just not taking any is extra security. It’s kind of like putting a lock on your door. If you didn’t have one, it’s possible that no one would break into your house anyway but you get one to make sure something like that doesn’t happen.

  53. The truth is, if you do not know better and still trust the cloud in 2019, you are an idiot and deserve to be hacked.
Because most hackers do not hack your phone – they have access to Apple, Microsoft and Google servers. A these Silicone Valley bozos keep making grand statements of "customer respect" and "increased security", yet they keep getting hacked because their system is inherently unsecure in order for them to sell your life to corporations.

  54. Denali Brehmer: Kills someone
Also Denali Brehmer: "I don't view myself as a killer."

That takes a serious amount of cognitive dissonance.

  55. With all due respect for woopie, i can only say this to her: Woopie, remember the 70s? The free love movement? The sole thing that made free sexuality and expression of self without having to fear being cast out of one's family or worse as punishment possible? Well, you are the modern equivalent of someone who was fighting against this freedom. Like an old stuck up person that can't take the fact that their outdated views have been proven to be damaging to society. It's sad. Shame on you Woopie.

  56. Bella needs to grow a back bone and have some damn sense! If you think what Whoopi said was wrong, you're seriously misinforming young women. If you send anything through the internet, it can be hacked and you know there's a marginal chance anything could be stolen. This is about having the common sense to live in a digital world. Period.

  57. UAE and Saudi Arabia: women are beneath us.
1 women pointint her foot at a plane: YOU ARE SCUM!!!

its like they're trying to be a donald trump. snowlfakes abound…

  58. Ppl r stupid. The trolls of the world are not happy until they are able to destroy someone else over nothing.

  59. Whoopi's not someone I've ever heard talk on issues before. I hope she isn't normally this wrong about things.
The real message we need to be putting out is that the naked body is natural and not something to be ashamed of. Nude leakers need to be punsiehd severely, but nude leak victims need to understand that they are unharmed. Which they so rarely seem to feel in these cases. I hate that people put so much stock in the idea that keeping themself covered means keeping their self worth. And that being seen naked makes them trash. A very sick mindset prevalent in America.
Telling victims they're just idiots is putting another layer of harm on a culture that needs fixing. "Cover up harder" is not a solution.

Also Bella's story is obviously super fake.

Also I hate that I started to wonder if Whoopi has any nudes. I did not mean to cross my thoughts like that. A grand mistake has been made.

  60. Did I miss something in what Whoopi said O.o nowhere in the statement was it slut-shaming nor did she say don't take sexy pics. She said specifically don't take nudes more or less if as a public figure you don't want it leaked. Because you did then you take that risk. Also, she said nothing that hasn't been said about general internet safety since the internet was a thing.

  61. that is not what whoopi said, she said that when you take nudes it is a HUGE chance. Bella can take nudes, we can take nudes, you can take nudes, however; there is always this risk. so "BELLA" maybe tell your daughter to take caution. things will be worse in the future. and more people will be offended about everything… we are always mad for dumb shit. besides i think she did that shit… but i am no one and i don't really care but dont be all faking crying and being sad for more drama and book selling… so good luck. smh.. come on haters i have thick skin and a sense of humor.

  62. Denoli: murders an innocent, vulnerable girl
Denoli: I don't want my daughter to grow up knowing her mom is a killer because I don't see myself as one

  63. "If you're famous I don't care how old you are, you don't take nude pictures of yourself. Listen, when they're hacking you, they're hacking all of your stuff. Whether its 1 picture or 1 million pictures, once you take it it goes into the cloud. If you don't know that in 2019, that this is an issue, I'm sorry you don't get to do that." Paraphrased from Whoopi…. Let's break this down.
    1. Shes basically saying what we all know, that people of fame are targets for hacking and nude leaks.
    2. The hacking is a problem.
    3. The outrage that people feel for being hacked, who are famous, is uncalled for. Because of the fame and spotlight they are targets.
Bella equated that to telling young women they are nasty and deserve to be raped. That because you took the photo, you deserve to be hacked and leaked. This is entirely not true.
This should have led to a bigger conversation about privacy and security, which isn't what is happening here. Whoopi has declared, that in 2019 you know the risks of taking nudes and that you know you are a target, you can't get mad when it happens to you. This is where I say, get mad; mad about the lack of privacy, mad about the poor cyber security of your account.
This situation is basically about people of power (aka $$$) and how they should have a right to privacy. How cyber security is still lacking.
It reminds me of my youth. Making false equivalencies just to fight or because I wasn't actually listening, only hearing to respond. Bella is making things worse by being reactionary and not listening to the truth.
This should have been a rally call to protect PEOPLE from hackers, instead it was made about rape and youth. Why? attention and outrage. Whoopi said nothing about gender and broadened it every time someone tried to focus on the split hairs of the situation.

  64. People need to grow a spine and stop getting to offended. She said it could get hacked she didn't say you shouldn't take it. This is pretty much a reach on Bella part.

  65. OMG @Bella seeking attention…. learn from older women they have been in the industry for long…just learn from it…dher!!!

  66. Phil you put the Bella Hadid situation better than I ever could. What a load of tripe. I hope she doesn't suffer much more for this…

  67. Pragmatically, I understand where Whoopi was coming from. It is objectively true that in this day and age, as a famous individual, you should be wary of what content you put out there. However, IDEALLY, NO one should have to worry about that. And I believe that Whoopi's rhetoric would have benefited from including that latter concept. The way she went about her point was of someone who was all vindication and no empathy. No matter how right you are, that is not the way to go about explaining it, in most circumstances at least. Having said that, Bella's answer was clearly over the top, which makes it much more difficult to sympathize with her as well. She had the opposite issue, in that, although she was right to be irate with Whoopi, choosing not to recognize the validity of her point, and instead focusing solely on the callousness of it, does her response no favors in my eyes.

  68. May everyone involved in that Alaska murder spend the rest of their lives behind bars (I'd personally prefer a work camp). To even CONSIDER such an act for merely money warrants a complete and permanent removal from society.

  69. I think Whoopi's argument is that you are in denial if you think that you can take pictures and not expect it to be on an internet network that is accessible. I think this is the wrong way to think think about the issue because the issue is not that she uploaded things knowing this but that someone would break into an online space which is identified as being ostensibly hers and took information from there. Whoopi is completely missing the point. It's like she's blaming someone for having valuables in a house that then got robbed. It should be criminal and prosecutable (even if the person is a minor) when such breaches are made in the same way you can hold someone who robs someone else accountable.

  70. Jesus fucking christ. Just because people say that you can avoid the issue by not doing it does not mean that they are fine with it or saying you deserve it.

  71. First of all, Bella shows off her body – objectifies herself as a sex object and then when another nude pic leaks – cries. WTF??? Grow up. He has mental issues, stop using weed and act responsibly – you're 21 – not 9!!!

  72. Perhaps the way Whoopie set up was the wrong way … And being hacked doesn't just happen to famous people … (it happens to everyone, even with all the security questions, the double way of verifying the access etc … they hacked me originally long ago!). But I don't even defend Bella … in the sense, do you want to take a naked photo? do it with the camera, print it, erase it from the camera, take it in person to the person you want to give it to, and all this drama didn't happen …

  73. Am I the only one amazed at the prices of the games? $20 on sale for a game to build a hospital and it usually costs $35? Does anyone here ever buy these games haha

  74. If you leave your car unlocked, it's not cool that you got things stolen out of your car, but you are partially culpable. If you upload pictures of yourself, it's very stupid to think they can't end up in the wild.

  75. I don't know who Bella Thorne is – I hadn't heard of her until this "controversy" happened. But It's gotten me to dislike her more & more. It's bad enough that the leak looks like a publicity stunt, but to come out w/ this crying video, twisting Whoopi's words just makes it worse. Hacking is a common enough occurrence nowadays, even if you AREN'T famous & it's worse if you are. Pictures saved on the cloud aren't really private & that should be taken in to account. THAT was what Whoopi's point was.

Also, you can take a sexy photo that isn't a nude.

Also, what happens to those photos when you break up? You can't trust that that'll remain private then either

  76. The Bella v. Whoopi issue should be approached first by recognizing that young men and women (and older folks too) DO take nude photos of themselves for their partners, or even just for themselves. It is not something brand new, nudes have been a thing for centuries they were just painted or sketched and now since everyone has a camera in their back pocket, they've become more common. The discussion ought to revolve around security and privacy, not around stopping a behaviour that is completely normal.

  77. I not a Whoppi fan but this was not offensive. It was a celeb version of a PSA …. Where's the issue with ageism? The more you know🌠
