Bitcoin focused technology firm Casa, recently announced that its Sats mobile Bitcoin wallet app is now available for both iOS and Android devices. Casa said in a recent post on their official blog that the mobile wallet is now available for download. Casa notes that the latest version of the app can be used without the company’s hardware Bitcoin Lightning node, but users who do not connect the app to a node do not have access its Lightning Network capabilities. What is the future of Casa, and their new wallet? Twitter and Square CEO Jack Dorsey has said that there are no plans for a platform-specific “Twitcoin” cryptocurrency, noting that he will instead focus on promoting Bitcoin. This comment coming from Jack as there has been speculation that there will be a series of new digital assets will be born from some of the larger multinationals, mainly in response to Libra, facebook’s new digital currency. Square’s mobile payments application CashApp rolled out BTC deposits in June. According to the data released in August, the company has generated $125 million in Bitcoin revenue in Q2 2019. It looks like Jack’s attention is really focused on Square, and twitter, and the idea of a new digital asset is not actually on the cards. French hardware wallets manufacturer Ledger recently said that its cryptocurrency management software Ledger Live now supports Ethereum ERC-20 tokens. In a recent blog-post Ledger announced the version 1.14.0 of its Ledger Live software that now supports over 1,250 Ethereum-based ERC-20 tokens. The update has already been released for both mobile and desktop versions of the software. “While the ERC-20 token integration has brought a plethora of new cryptocurrencies to Ledger Live, we still aim to add even more crypto assets to the platform.” How will this affect the Ledger platform? Bakkt Warehouse custody opened, and clients were able to deposit Bitcoin funds into the accounts. However, minutes after the tweet announcing the opening, the price of Bitcoin dropped by $700. So what happens from here? Bakkt was seen by many as an exciting step in crypto adoption as it is expected to bring in a series of new institutional investors into the world of cryptocurrency. Now the actual launch is not set until 23 september 2019. Let’s see what the thoughts are about the platform between now and then. Ethereum which is the world’s second most recognized and second largest cryptocurrency after Bitcoin, is gradually losing its foothold in the market. Its market capitalization has almost halved since the end of June 2019, and it is trading at just a small fraction of its all-time high. Are we all witnessing Ethereum dies a slow death? “The Ethereum blockchain has been ‘almost full for years, I think it’s still good to develop apps, but anything substantial should be developed with scalability techniques in mind…” (Vitallk Buterin) What the whole world has been waiting for, and what they are desperate to know is when Ethereum 2.0 will be released, how this will affect Ethereum, and the greater marketplace.
