Vitalik Buterin On Creating One Of The World’s Largest Cryptocurrencies

So, I first got into the crypto space back when it was just called
the bitcoin space around 2011. I heard about bitcoin
in a couple of places. I thought it was something
really interesting. I started getting into the
community more and more. I co-founded Bitcoin Magazine which was this, kind of, online site and
eventually a print magazine that talked about bitcoin-related technical, social,
economic, whatever topics. And I did a lot of bitcoin-related things for about two years. Eventually dropped out of university to join the space full-time. And soon after that I started to realize that there were a lot
more interesting things that you could do with blockchains than just a single peer-to-peer currency. And this was something
a lot of other people were starting to recognize
at the same time. I came up with the idea behind Ethereum. This idea of a blockchain with a built-in programming language
as, kind of, what I thought was the simplest and
kind of, most logical way to actually build a
platform that can be used for many more kinds of applications. Just too limited functionality. So like, think of the
difference between something like a pocket calculator and a smartphone, where a pocket calculator does one thing and it does one thing well, but really people want to
do all these other things. And if you have a smartphone
then on the smartphone you have a pocket calculator as an app. You have playing music as an app. You have a web browser as an app and pretty much everything else. So basically taking that same kind of idea of increasing the power of the system by making it more general purpose and applying it to blockchains.

  1. if people were smart enough (but they arent) they would combine these ideas about cryptos: 1) they are NOT UNHACKABLE 2) government will still get ya 3) if the price drops below computation costs that currency IS DEAD 4) will die at some point in the future, because of history transaction storage limit. 5) It's not gold.

  2. 🎶 Vitalik, Clappin', Vitalik is impressed. Happy and Clappin' Vitalik is impressed. Yehhhh 🎶 😂😂 Sing along if you know the song.

  3. He's so adorable! I'm excited to see what he develops next in the world of cryptocurrency, especially as multi-use functionability becomes more of a standard for blockchain based entities

  4. In 10-20 years, this guy will be recognized as being the equal of Edison, Gates and Co.

  5. He's unusually gifted at articulating concepts regarding blockchain technology. I think his career as a writer really honed that skill for him. On a side note, I find myself in a calming trance when listening to him speak. It's easy to see that he's pure of heart and doesn't care about the monetary value of Ether – his vision is so much larger than that. The internet and the web need this honest and untainted vision for the future.

  6. smart and handsome as hell and not FULL of himself… they don't make men like this anymore, he's a unicorn

  7. The description for this video shows how dumb the uploader is. Vitalik was saying "pocket calculator", not "plot key calculator". There's not even such a thing as a "plot key calculator". smh

  8. MAN: Still run the world and blockchain!

    Woman: Beatyvlogging and prostitution!

    Equal? MY ASS!

  9. Why is he called Vitalik instead of Vitaly? This is like officially calling yourself Betty instead of Elizabeth :O

  10. He's worth 100 million, ofcourse he's weird. Thats how that stuff works. What did you expect him to look like?

  11. You can see that he is almost devoid of any egoic self, this is a trait most geniuses have, because if the mind is not spending energy on maintaining the self image, what people think of me, what is accepted to do etc… then it can focus on problems without any emotional interference, he can look at the facts in their purest form like a mathmatician would and he has the focus to follow through his chain of thoughts to very deep depths, so he also has iron focus.

This is why his eyes don't move like regular human eyes, jokes aside he does look like a human computer because of this characteristic of being devoid of ego mind, the only thing he cares about is causal chains, A -> B -> C and figuring out what route to take to benefit us the most. He is a gift to humanity.
