Binance which is one of largest global crypto exchanges, will soon add support for fiat trading, starting with the Russian ruble. The news was publicly released by Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) at a Russian government-led event, the Open Innovations Forum in Moscow on Oct. 21. By adding Russia’s national cryptocurrency on its platform, Binance will allow users from Russia to buy cryptocurrencies directly using rubles. How will this move into the Russian market affect the growth of Binance? Global Container Terminals a container terminal operator in North America, has joined Maersk and IBM’s blockchain shipping tool TradeLens. As part of the initiative, Vancouver-based Global Container Terminals will gradually roll out the blockchain-based platform at the four terminals it operates. Bitcoin-enabled (BTC) games startup Satoshis Games announced the development of a Fortnite-like game with built-in Lightning Network microtransactions dubbed Lightnite. Per the announcement, all in-game interactions between players trigger a monetary reward or penalty for the user. some in-game items have a Bitcoin value and can be picked up from dead players and the game’s store allows players to purchase items with fiat money or BTC microtransactions. Lets see how this game affects gaming, and bitcoin. Bunkertrace, which is a blockchain and DNA-based fuel tracking solution, is using DNA markers to trace bunker fuel oil throughout the supply chain. In an article by the American Journal of Transportation, Bunkertrace announced its commercial launch after a successful trial in the Netherlands where the company added DNA markers to bunker fuel oil. The new solution combines synthetic DNA markers and blockchain technology to trace the fuel and make it possible to track any changes made to it. Let’s see how this project does in the future. A master’s degree in blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) is now attainable at the University of Malta. Thus far, about 35 students are enrolled for the course. Joshua Ellul, director of the master’s program and chairman of Malta Digital Innovation Authority, said during Malta’s DELTA Summit that 15 companies have already contacted the students of the course. He also explained the reasoning that brought the program to existence: “We noticed a huge problem between techies and lawyers and business professionals. There was a communication disconnect between us. We thought: ‘this would be the perfect place to have a master’s, one serving the multidisciplinary purposes of the different specializations.’” An exciting day for education and distributed ledger technology.
