The South Korean government has released the results of its security inspection of cryptocurrency exchanges. Only seven of them passed all 85 points of inspection. In collaboration with the Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA), the ministry inspected over 38 exchanges. A major bank in India has sent a notice to
a customer to close the account as the customer made transactions involving crypto currencies. This letter has attracted flak on social media by crypto community as many called it a desperate move by the bank. Google has reportedly blacklisted keywords mentioning “Ethereum” on its advertising platform Google Ads. Comments on the Reddit criticized Google’s position as a neutral third party. One Reddit comment said:“Google has various political and economic agendas, and they are quite willing to use their various services to promote their preferences. AdSense and Youtube are notorious for this, but there have been some incidents regarding the play store as well.” A cybercriminal group dubbed Grim Spider has been using the Ryuk ransomware to exclusively target enterprises and & managed to amass over 700 Bitcoins (around $3.7 million) from the victims in less than six months The ransom amount varies from victim to victim: the lowest was for 1.7 BTC and the highest for 99 BTC. Bittrex, the United States-based cryptocurrency exchange launched an over-the-counter (OTC) trading desk. The OTC trading is becoming more and more popular among the institutional investors who are looking to carry out large-volume trades. This type of trading takes place away from the crypto exchanges. This kind of trade is often taken care of by brokers. They provide a trading desk to the high-volume traders in order to execute the large trades in lower fees and with faster settlement. New malware posing as a movie file from torrent website The Pirate Bay (TPB) can manipulate web pages and replace Bitcoin and Ether addresses allowing hackers to steal crypto. The malware is also able to swap out cryptocurrency wallet addresses for ones owned by the attacker. This occurs when users use the copy+paste of the PC Major cryptocurrency exchange Binance is expanding to European markets with the launch of a new platform for fiat-to-cryptocurrency trading. Binance’s new trading platform, called Binance Jersey, is designed for fiat-to-crypto trading of the euro (EUR) and British pound (GBP) with Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) That’s all for today.
